NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Parts of Middle Tennessee could see severe weather Saturday.
First, expect widespread rain with some thunder and lightning to move in late Friday night and into the wee hours Saturday morning.
This first round should not produce any widespread severe weather, but a storm warning is possible before daybreak, especially in southern Middle Tennessee.
It looks like the first round of heavy rain will move east of Nashville just before the start of the Country Music Marathon, which starts at 7 a.m.
Anyone headed downtown for the race in the very early morning hours will want to take running shoes in a dry bag to change into just before race time.
The second round of weather could come in the afternoon hours Saturday and produce a greater risk of severe storms.
They will be very isolated in nature, therefore, many areas will not get any rain or storms the second half of the day.
The most likely areas to have storm development after lunchtime will be from Nashville east and north. Even if a cell is isolated, it could become severe very quickly. Damaging hail is the primary threat with these storms, but we cannot rule out an isolated tornado.
