RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation served search warrants at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Thursday morning.
They also served warrants at the home of Sheriff Robert Arnold, who is currently under investigation by the TBI.
The Rutherford County Ethics Committee voted in April to allow the district attorney to investigate allegations made against a sheriff involving possible public corruption involving multiple targets with the department.
News 2 previously reported that Arnold lists e-cigarettes sold to inmates in the Rutherford County jail as a source of income.
TBI officials have not said whether or not their investigation is related to the situation with the e-cigarettes.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office placed two employees on administrative leave in late April.
It is unclear if their leave is related to the TBI investigation of Sheriff Robert Arnold.
