NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Rutherford County attorney known for attempting to stop the building of a mosque in Murfreesboro died suddenly Thursday.

A note sent out by the Rutherford/Cannon County Bar Association said “Joe M. Brandon, Jr. passed away unexpectedly this evening, after reportedly suffering from a heart attack.”

“Joe has been a great part of our legal community for many years and will always be remembered for the enthusiasm and zealousness he brought to the practice of law,” said the RCCBA.
